There’s a lot to consider as you get ready to travel overseas and study with us. From applying for a student visa to knowing where to go once you get off the plane, learn more about how you can prepare for India life.
Pre-departure guide and arrival checklist
Our pre-departure guide contains important information about how to prepare for your arrival in India.
Use this list as a reminder of what you need to take care of before you leave. You could also print these pages and tick off each item as you go.
When you accept Christ University offer letter
- Apply for your student visa
- Arrange for immunisations, medications and any medical records from your doctor.
- Apply for a credit card and/or arrange for access to sufficient funds.
- Book your flight to arrive at least a few days before your check-in, enrolment and orientation. We strongly recommend you arrive at least 7 days before classes start.
- Arrange Medical/Accident Insurance Mandatory for students wanting to come to India. Students are requested to get the comprehensive insurance from the Home country before arrival.
What to bring with you?
- A valid passport, a printed copy of your current student visa and your confirmation of enrolment.
- Your letter of offer from Christ University and a copy of your acceptance form.
- Receipts for any payments already made to Christ University
- Other official identification (driver’s licence, national identification card, etc.)
- Any medical records (particularly of immunisations) and any necessary medical prescriptions
- India currency for the first few days, e.g. ?5,000 – ?10000.
When you arrive
- Christ University will arrange airport pick-up for you, meet the driver holding Christ University placard at the airport exit.
- Contact home – your family and friends will want to know that you have arrived safely.
- Accommodation on campus will be arranged by Christ University, Office of International Relations.
- Meet the Dean/Director of Office of International relations.
- Complete the enrolment process and receive the timetables of your enrolled subjects in the semester.
- Getting connected to Wi-Fi on campus.
- Attend the university orientation.
- Explore and familiarise yourself with your campus.
- Get to know the area where you will live, and how to get to the campus and shops.
- Open a bank account, or if you opened one when overseas, take your passport with you to the bank so you can withdraw funds.
Important: After accepting your course offered at Christ University, we will send you an email with important information about preparing for studies, your handbook, course and subjects, classes and much more!
